Business Model
Nanotech Industries is interested in mitigating risk and reducing the cost of commercializing nanotechnology-based products. Our aim is to build businesses that transform academic nanotechnology platforms into nano-enabled products. In order to do this quickly and effectively, we provide business development expertise to facilitate technology transfer and expedite proof-of-concept.
We utilize our network of services and financing to accelerate the development of multiple early-stage research programs to proof-of-concept or demonstrate manufacturability within three years.
All opportunities presented to us progress through a number of commercial filters and an assessment of business case and time to market. We are interested in building a diversified portfolio and a pipeline of technologies which balances short- and long- term returns.
Our unique business model offers the maximum potential to deliver significant growth to our portfolio of technologies and shareholders. Not a traditional venture capitalist nor an “angel” investment firm, Nanotech Industries minimizes risk for our own investors by maintaining a controlling interest in a broad portfolio of nanotechnologies, each with a defined capital commitment set against milestones.
Our efforts are largely driven by partnerships with academic institutions. These research partnerships are directed towards new product creation. Individual project costs are low and defined as to minimize investor risk. Once a product is ready for market, we are then prepared to access further funding from the capital markets. From this strategy we have developed a cost effective process which provides a bridge between early stage, patented research efforts and marketable product.
In order to ensure a high success rate for our portfolio, we have a disciplined assessment process to ensure that each technology is still en route to successful commercialization. As the project progresses, preset milestones must be accomplished for continued investment. These milestones are reviewed on a regular basis at which time the project is evaluated for continued funding, redirection of funds or withdrawal of investment. These critical evaluations provide a low-risk environment for investors to get involved in this emerging field.
